The Alphawing® Slim profile consists of a W-shaped “Wing”. The Wing protects the substructure and any lower decking or balconies. This ensures that water is transported efficiently without damaging the screws or substructure. The W-shaped bottom profile, the wings, is screwed to the substructure, and the decking boards are then pressed into it. The decking boards must also be secured. It is made of elastic PVC plastic or aluminum. Due to the flexible wings, the profile absorbs the shrinking and swelling behavior of the decking boards. This allows each board to expand and contract independently.
In addition to the standard Alphawing profile, there's also the Alphawing® Slim version. The wood is planed differently, bringing the profiles closer together. This eliminates the need for a clip on top of the Wing.

What exactly is an Alphawing Slim profile?
The Alphawing profile is a high-quality aluminum or plastic profile for between the specially planed decking boards. It is specifically designed for galleries, balconies, and roof terraces. The system consists of “Wings” that are mounted between the sections, preventing water from seeping through the balconies or galleries.
What about the drainage of Alphawing Slim?
Alphawing® is designed as a water conduction system for the drainage of water and dirt. Due to the specific shape of the Wings, rainwater can be drained in a controlled manner. As a result, the space under the balcony or gallery remains (virtually) dry. The system does not guarantee complete watertightness, but it does ensure that the risk is significantly reduced. It also prevents dirt and objects from falling through the decking.
Is the installation of Alphawing Slim complicated?
Quite the opposite! In addition to fastening the decking boards, the profiles must also be mounted; for this, there is a small V-groove for the correct positioning. Recognize with a screw fastening. You click the profiles into special clips or carriers. This saves a lot of time during construction and ensures a sleek, modern look without protruding screw heads.
Which types of wood are suitable?
Although wood has a beautiful natural appearance, there are significant differences in durability and maintenance. If we look at the most popular choices:
Bilinga (Preferred choice in hardwood): Bilinga is a very strong and durable African hardwood (Durability Class 1). It is highly resistant to fungi and acids. Compared to Alphawing Slim, Bilinga has a warm, natural look, but it will grey over time and can become slippery in damp weather due to algae growth. Alphawing offers the same durability without the slipperiness and color loss.
Accoya®: This is technically modified softwood with extremely high dimensional stability. It hardly warps, but remains a softer material than aluminium and is more susceptible to damage from heels or furniture.
Why must the Alphawing system be installed with a slope of at least 2%?
