The Building Decree sets a basic requirement of fire class D for facade cladding. Boogaerdt Hout supplies CE-certified facade cladding that meets fire class D, even for applications such as open facade cladding. Fire class D is the usual requirement for building structures, unless additional (more stringent) requirements are imposed. On November 10, 2023, the European Commission (EC) adopted a Delegated Act that no longer makes it possible to declare (closed) facade cladding made of modified wood, preserved wood or that has been provided with a coating as fire class D without testing. Only ''untreated'' wood and applied in accordance with the End-use application in the NEN-EN 14915 standard can be ''declared'' in the declaration of performance (Dop) that must be made without testing in the context of CE marking. The profiling must always be in accordance with table 1 below (based on NEN-EN 14915 table 1). The starting point is that the substrate behind the cavity has a minimum fire class A2-s1, d0 (the background on which the framework and facade cladding are attached).
NB! As of August 20, 2024, you will be required to have proof of the performance that you declare in your declaration of performance (Dop) (such as fire class), associated with the CE marking, for all facade cladding products.

From January 1, 2012, Azobé can be supplied with a CE marking according to NEN 5493 or the British Standard (BS) standard. Applying a CE marking to construction timber is mandatory in most cases. The CE mark aims to remove trade restrictions within the European Union. With the CE marking, Boogaerdt Hout declares that the product meets the requirements of the relevant reference documents and may be traded freely within the European economic area.
The Building Decree sets requirements for the fire properties of building materials to limit the chance of the occurrence and rapid development of fire, so that people have sufficient time to escape. Different fire requirements apply to products with and without CE marking. Products with CE must comply with a Eurofire class according to NEN-EN 13501-1. Products without CE must comply with the Dutch fire class according to NEN 1775 or a Euro fire class.
A basic requirement of fire class Dfl applies to walkable surfaces. There should be no rapid fire development for escape routes. Therefore, materials must meet the stricter requirements of Eurofire class Cfl.
The fire class of a wooden floor surface depends on various aspects such as density, thickness and finish. Wood types with a specific weight above 790 kg/m³, including Azobé, probably meet fire class Cfl. Research has shown that Azobé with a thickness of 45 mm can meet fire class B-s1.
