Sustainable Accoya® in Swedish rebate
Accoya® wood was chosen for the facade cladding. This high-quality, modified wood is known for its exceptional dimensional stability and durability (Class 1), which is essential for a building with a long lifespan. The facade features a classic Malmö profile, giving the building a distinctive and robust appearance. Safety is an absolute priority in non-residential construction of this caliber. Therefore, the Accoya® facade is treated with FlameFix. This fire-retardant treatment ensures that the wood meets the strictest fire safety standards (Euroclass B), without compromising the natural appearance of the wood.
More than just cladding
Boogaerdt Hout's contribution to this project was not limited to the planks alone. We also supplied the laminated beams between the facade sections. To create a uniform whole and ensure safety, these structural elements were also treated with the same fire-retardant system. It is no coincidence that Boogaerdt Hout was chosen as the partner for the supply of the facade sections. In addition to expertise in wood and fire regulations, the close collaboration was the deciding factor. By collaborating with the contractor and the client at an early stage, the technical details could be perfectly aligned with the architectural vision.
With the completion of the 2nd Process Hall, Wageningen has gained a sustainable and safe icon in which the power of wood is showcased to its fullest potential.
