European Douglas fir vs. Oregon Pine: Two Sides of the Same Tree
In the world of timber construction and carpentry, the names European Douglas fir and Oregon Pine are well-known. Both wood species are popular for their warm color, strength, and versatility. What many don't know, however, is that botanically, they come from the exact same tree species: the Douglas fir, also known as Pseudotsuga menziesiiYet, there are significant differences in quality, appearance, and application, all of which are related to their origins.
